ENTERPRISING students were given the chance to brush up on their business acumen, with an intensive workshop at University College Worcester.

The Enterprise Summer School was a four-day course created by UCW in collaboration with the Mercia Institute of Enterprise, West Mercia Business Link, Advantage West Midlands and the European Regional Development Fund.

The workshop, which ran from Thursday, June 9 until yesterday, helped undergraduates develop business ideas, including how to reach target customers and business start-up advice.

Event organiser, Andrew Corcoran said offering advice, and a link between business leaders and emerging undergraduate talent, were key to developing quality future workforces.

"The workshop offers a chance for students to learn skills, and for businesses to see emerging talent that's right here in Worcestershire." he said.

"This can only help to retain graduate talent within the region."

Susanne Baker, Director of Regional and International Development at UCW added: "This event is another good example of UCW developing its links with regional businesses and offering practical advice and opportunities to students at the same time."
