THE man linked with a take-over at Kidderminster Harriers is staying tight-lipped over the Aggborough saga.

But Hampshire-based Ron Higgins has spoken out about his ousting as chairman at Farnborough Town following a turbulent season.

Higgins was voted out of the role by the Farnborough board recently but claims he was actually axed in March after an emergency meeting following the 6-0 defeat to Hereford.

He has since been linked with a consortium considering a bid for Harriers but, according to Kidderminster chief Colin Youngjohns, is yet to make official contact to view the club's books.

Higgins said: "I've been looking at six clubs, including one in League One. But it wouldn't be right to talk about that now.

"I am, though, hoping to give it one more try. You don't go into football to make money, you go into it because you enjoy the game and have some fun. I look back at my time at Farnborough Town and while it was fun, I was not enjoying it."

Higgins is yet to sell his shares at relegated Farnborough, but said he has agreed an offer in principle and is still waiting for outstanding loans to be paid back to him.

He added: "I put £100,000 of my own hard-earned money into Farnborough and fought off two winding-up petitions in August and November. All I got, however, was abuse.

"I have made some mistakes, I know that. If I could turn the clock back, however, I would have started afresh and with a clean slate when I came in."

Meanwhile, vice-chairman Barry Norgrove and retired businessman Neil Savery have been locked in talks with owner Lionel Newton over their consortium's offer to take over.

Neither will make further public statements until the discussions end.

Stuart Watkiss, currently on holiday, is poised to swoop for a string of new signings when the issue is resolved.
