A 20-year-old carer who has been writing poetry since the age of eight is celebrating her work being published in seven books in three months - and says there is more to come.

More than 20 poems by Bryony Freeman can be found in Spotlight Poets' books, Love and Devotion and Entangled Pathways and single pieces she has written have been published in five other books since April. These include Mixed Emotions, featuring her poem What Remains and Skies Beyond including her work Death Corner.

Bryony is expecting at least three more of her poems to be published in other new books before the end of August and says an address book featuring her work is in the pipelines.

The former Bewdley High School pupil, who lives in Holman Street, Kidderminster, says it is her dream to see a book of just her own work published, but is happy to share the spotlight for the time being.

"I think it's going to take a long time for people to finally take notice but I'm alright at the moment," she tells the Shuttle/Times & News.

"I'm just plodding along and hopefully at some point somebody will turn around and give me an opportunity."

She adds: "I've been writing poetry for years and years, but it's only recently that I decided to start sending stuff away to publishers.

"I think writing is like keeping a diary - it's a nice way to get things out of your system and a good release."

She says most of her work is about life and death and also includes romantic poems, which she says is "strange" considering she is single and "not really a romantic".

Her influences include Sylvia Plath and Dylan Thomas, as well as her experiences as an agency care worker.
