ORIGINAL etchings by an internationally renowned artist are now on display at Chipping Norton Theatre.

David Hockney's work, which illustrates six fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm, will be on display at the Goddards Lane theatre until the end of this month.

The copper plate etchings, which have arrived at the theatre from London's Hayward Gallery, have been taken from the limited edition book published by Petersburg Press.

The exhibition will include etchings from familiar tales such as Rupelstilzchen and Old Rinkrank along with others from less well-known ones including The Little Sea Hare.

The theatre's spokeswoman, Rebecca de la Bedoyere said: "David Hockney is a well-known, respected and talented artist and we are very excited to have his exhibition here at the Chipping Norton Theatre. The etchings are original and include well-known tales as well as the less familiar ones.

"It's great for people in rural areas to see work from an internationally renowned artist right on their doorstep."
