VALE motorists should be glad to hear the road widening works on the A44 Worcester Road in Evesham should be finished by the end of the week.
The road improvement project has been taking place at Fladbury Cross since April 4 and has cost up to £250,000. The temporary traffic lights have been holding up traffic causing daily delays.
Peter Jago, principal engineer on the works says the project remains on schedule.
"We remain hopeful that the work will be completed and the lights removed by Friday. Though the footpath may still need a bit more time to finish and we need to do some tidying up, there should be much less congestion."
The work is being completed by Laser Civil Engineers who were appointed by Worcestershire County Council. The road has been widened to provide right turn lanes at Fladbury Cross, at the junction of Station Road, Fladbury Hill and at the crossing point at Evesham Golf Club.
