THE main sponsor of Worcester Warriors rugby club has urged other businesses to capitalise on the squad's success.

City-based energy giant, npower, is asking firms to think about the possibilities presented by another season in the Premiership.

"Being in the Premiership really puts Worcester on the map and creates many opportunities for local businesses," said Jenny Simons, npower spokesperson. "Sixways is rapidly becoming one of the most prestigious places in Worcester to host business functions and companies from the area can benefit from the association with such a well known and respected establishment."

There are benefits for leisure and tourism outside the grounds, as Kathy Leather, the Warriors commercial manager, said: "Thousands attend games at Sixways and we encourage them to stay in the area."

to support Worcester pubs, clubs, restaurants and hotels," she said.

"This year we have filled the 8,300 capacity ground nine out of a possible 11 times - a major achievement.

"We are also looking forward to welcoming more people to Sixways next season both to watch the fantastic rugby and to experience our conferencing and social event facilities."
