FROM traffic island to paradise island - that's literally the life swap ahead for lucky Worcestershire garden centre worker Brett Moore.
Next week, 31-year-old Mr Moore heads off for a new life on the tiny car-free island of Herm, three miles off the coast of Guernsey.
After 16 years working at Webbs of Wychbold in Droitwich - where one of his jobs involves planting the nearby traffic island on the A38 - Mr Moore will join the team caring for the Channel Island's natural gem.
His new job will also involve looking after beaches and footpaths as well as general maintenance.
Herm is just 1.5 miles long and half a mile wide and a community of only 50 people during the winter months..
"I'm really looking forward to it," he said. "I can't wait to get up in the morning and see the sea and walk to work rather than sitting in a traffic jam. I've been holidaying in the Channel Islands since I was a young boy and I love the whole islands lifestyle."
Mr Moore, who studied horticulture at Pershore College, spotted the advert on the college notice board and applied. He said: "I jumped at the chance and can't believe that this time next week I'll be on paradise island."
Webbs managing director, Ed Webb, said: "We all wish Brett well in his new job, he's worked here a long time and has been a great asset to us. The job sounds fantastic."
