I REFER to the letter from Alan E Coldicott (Letters, Tuesday, April 19). I quote the second paragraph of this correspondent's contribution: "However all (political) parties fail because none proposes to teach all four of the national languages of Great Britain."
The English language is the only one understood throughout the UK so, naturally, that is the means of communication used by all politicians.
However, there are at least seven other languages that are either the first or second language of certain varying elements in the UK's population. Which three of these, other than English, does this person have in mind?
D E MARGRETT,
Worcester.
