THE members of Arden Sailing Club Defford sailed three races, the first of the day was the second race in the Arden Trophy series.

This was sailed in a brisk force 3-4 south westerly wind and included a good turnout with six classes of dinghy represented.

The start line was busy and the Enterprises led the fleet away in the direction of Strensham.

As the boats of Jeremy and Michelle Griffiths, and Niall Campbell with Gunnhildur Dadadottir struggled against each other to gain an advantage, the solos of Andrew Potts and Ralph Evans were similarly engaged.

The winners by one second were the Griffithses, from Campbell and Dadadottir, with Potts and Evans separated by the Comet of Keith Stevens.

The second race of the day saw the Enterprises and GP14 raced against each other in the first of the Bert Thurlow series.

Once again the Griffithses were challenging Campbell and Dadadottir but only until they capsized, allowing the Enterprise of Stuart and Caroline Stephen to take second spot, followed by the GP14 of David and Pauline Appleby.

In the third race, the Solos of Potts and Evans were again trying to get the advantage to beat Stevens' Comet on handicap. The result was Potts first, Evans second and Stevens third.
