ANCHOR Falcons signed off their Worcester Sunday Division Three season with a convincing win over Trinity Sports Reserves, Paul Park smashing five goals to become the club's top scorer for the season.

The game had a couple of other notable moments. Having spent four months out with injury and an operation, Jon Hale returned for the first time in an unfamiliar centre-forward role. He celebrated by setting up Park for his first goal, then finishing clinically when Park returned the assist within the first ten minutes.

However, Hale's efforts, which won him the man-of-the-match award, were surpassed by goalkeeper Marcus Henney. After a fine season between the posts, Henney was pushed into a striker's role for the last 20 minutes and he duly obliged with a goal, his first ever from open play.

Park secured his hat-trick by half-time and scored twice more in the second period as the home side belied their 8th place in the table with a show of good football.

Rich Bryan had notched shortly before the break, when he cleverly headed Mark Berry's free-kick over the keeper, to put the Falcons in an unassailable 5-0 interval lead. Although Trinity scored two goals at the midway point of the second-half, the Falcons were in control of the game and had the three points sewn up already.

A good finish to what really could have been a more successful season, another mid-season slump put an end to the high hopes the club had when top of the table after eight games back in October.

The club embark on their first ever tour later this month when they take in the sights of the west country, and will report back for training in July when new players are very welcome.

Thanks go to the Anchor and Dysons Perrins for all their help this season.
