WEST Malvern completed their Worcester League division one programme on Saturday with a convincing 7-1 win over Fernhill Heath Spurs.

WEST MALVERN 7, FERNHILL HEATH SPURS 1

Star of the game was Phil Jenkins, who scored four goals.

West Malvern made all the early running and were two up within the first 20 minutes, both goals coming from Jenkins.

In the 30th minute, they went three up when Duncan McClelland headed home to score his first goal for West Malvern.

Five minutes later, Fernhill Heath reduced the arrears when a back-pass to the keeper fell to the visiting centre-forward to tap in.

Just before half-time, Anthony Holder rounded the defence to make it 4-1 to West Malvern.

The home side continued to press in the second-half and Jenkins completed his hat-trick in the 60th minute. Three minutes later Anthony Holder was on hand to score his second.

In the 60th minute Phil Jenkins scored his fourth goal with a superb volley from 20 yards. Although Fernhill Heath rallied, they made little headway against the defence, well marshalled by Jason Griffiths.

The West Malvern midfield played exceptionally well with Dave Kelm running himself into the ground.

Overall West Malvern have had a reasonable season only losing five games in the league, drawing four and winning seven.

Tomorrow (Saturday) West Malvern, sponsored by Amey and the Cross Keys, entertain Fernhill Heath Spurs in an outstanding Phipps Cup match for the completion of their season. Players meet 2.15pm at the dressing rooms.
