RANGERS' visit to Ray Hall Lane proved successful for the first time after losing on each of their three previous visits.

BUSTLEHOLME RESERVES 2, MALVERN RANGERS 3

In their first attack, Bustleholme took the lead when not only did it appear that Neil Bond was fouled in the area but also keeper Marc Wright. However, play was allowed to continue and the ball was scrambled over the line after only three minutes.

Just one minute later and Rangers were level. Simon Rea did well in possession, before playing the ball to Rob Cullen who released Sam Black to slide the ball home inside the near post.

Five minutes before the interval ,Rangers took the lead. Rob Perrins and Simon Rea combined to release Sam Black, who scored in off a defender.

Two minutes before the interval Bustleholme equalised when from a left-sided throw and cross into the box, Gavin Stanley was on hand to tap home.

Eight minutes into the second-half and Sam Black was sent clear in on goal but shot straight at keeper Matthew Shaw. After 23 minutes ,a Rob Cullen throw was met by Mark Tipton who volleyed just too high.

The winning goal just wouldn't come. Simon Rea shot over after 38 minutes and shortly afterwards ,Rangers had strong penalty appeals turned down when Tipton was dragged back.

However, with virtually the last kick of the game, Rob Cullen made a good run from the left, cut inside before striking an excellent shot which keeper Shaw did well to parry but Sam Black was on hand to grab the winner.

Man-of-the-match was Sam Black.

MALVERN RANGERS 2, KINGTON TOWN RES 1

THE previous Wednesday evening Rangers entertained Kington Town Reserves in the second meeting between the sides on consecutive Wednesdays.

Against a young enthusiastic visiting side, Rangers struggled to get their game together.

Rangers opened the scoring within the first minute of the second-half. Neil Bond played a long ball into the path of Jamie Roberts and his shot took a wicked deflection and looped over keeper Brian Kirkham into the net.

After 17 minutes, Jamie Roberts had a good shot go just wide before after 36 minutes, Rangers' second goal gave them a little breathing space. Rob Cullen played the ball to Neil Bond and he scored into the corner.

However in the dying moments, Kington pulled a goal back when the ball was lobbed over keeper Marc Wright and struck the crossbar, Peter Lloyd responded quickest to head home.

Man-of-the-match was Mark Tipton.

Rangers, sponsored by The Cross Keys, do not have a fixture this week and have to wait until May 14 to play their final fixture when they entertain Shenstone Pathfinders, kick-off 2.45pm.

This fixture determines whether Rangers finish third or fourth.
