Upton Rowing Club has forged links with a club in France.
Former members Hamish and Carol Barkley, who moved close to Villeneuve Sur Lot last year, invited rowers from Upton to spend a few days with their new club.
Members enjoyed meeting their French counterparts and using an octuple, an eight-man sculling boat not used in Upton before.
"As the cox was a local man who gave the commands in French, it proved to be quite a challenging outing," said the club's Penny Stevenson.
Upton Rowing Club hopes to host a visit by the French club.
