TEENAGERS with a talent for script writing are invited to create a 15-minute show for shadow puppets.

The winning script will be performed after a day of free workshops in shadow puppetry and junk percussion on Saturday, May 21, at Malvern Youth Centre.

Entry is open to young people aged 13 and 19. Scripts should run for 15 minutes and be base on the theme of recycling.

The winner will receive £40 of ticket vouchers for Malvern Theatres and Cinema.

The event is being run by Malvern Development Education Centre, with sponsorship from Malvern Hills Community Fund.

Co-ordinator Becky Newman said: "Script don't have to be that in-depth, they need characters, a storyline and a beginning, middle and end.

"The idea is to promote recycling and things that you can do with recyclable materials."

Music created by those at the junk percussion workshops - where youngsters will be invited to make instruments and use some owned by the English Symphony Orchestra - will accompany the puppet performance.

Scripts should be send to Becky Newman, MDEC, 22 Church Street, Malvern, or by email to coordinator@mdec.org. uk by Friday, May 13.
