On Sunday, your friendly local tennis club will be holding a 'play tennis' open day. Mathon, Cradley and Storridge Tennis Club will be open from 10am till noon for free tennis matches, with three classes: Under-10s, juniors and adults. People of all ages and abilities are welcome to come along and enjoy the day.

The club would also like to remind everyone that the new coaching season starts on Monday, May 9.

An organ recital will be held in St James the Great Church, Cradley, on Monday, May 29 with Oliver Rundell. The recital will begin at 7pm and tickets are £10, including refreshments. For further details, call 01886 884682 or 880349.

Dates for your diary: Monday to Saturday, May 16-21, Cradley will be making its own effort to support Christian Aid week.

Events include breakfast with Jo and Ron Richardson at Glen Cottage, Chapel Lane, on Tuesday, May 17. A full English breakfast (£5) or a lighter continental breakfast (£2.50) will be on offer from 8.30am to 10.30am.

Sally and Geoffrey Pugh will be hosting a soup and ploughman's lunch at Beech Grove Farm in Mathon on Friday, May 20 from 12.30pm to 2pm, which will cost £5.

To round off the week, Birchwood Lodge will see a pizzas, puds and punch evening with Eileen and Mike Vockins on Saturday, May 21 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6.50 from Cradley PO and Stores. All proceeds from the week will go to Christian Aid.

Conservative MP Bill Wiggin visited Cradley Post Office and Stores on Thursday, April 28 in support of the campaign to save rural Post Offices.
