YOUNGSTERS were shown why it is a blooming good idea to make garden waste into compost when they visited a double-decker bus - with a growing garden in the roof.
The open-topped Compost Bus stopped off at Worcester Garden Centre on Droitwich Road yesterday, so the public and pupils from the Grove Junior School, Malvern, could learn how garden waste can be used to feed the flowers, and stop it taking up valuable space in landfill sites.
The children could see the benefits of compost thanks to the growing flowers, shrubs and hanging baskets decking out the bus's top level.
As part of Compost Awareness Week - May 1 to 7, the bus from Recycle Now is touring the country to tell people what can be composted and how they can go about recycling their household waste.
