Evesham Utd U-11 9,

Swindon Villages Bowmen B 1

HAVING been denied the league title after a play-off despite finishing top, Evesham bounced back with a dazzling display in front of a large crowd at Cheltenham Town's Whaddon Road home.

Henry Woods opened the scoring after three minutes when converting Sam Ford's cross.

Louis Brown then hammered home a second from a close-range free-kick and Woods made it 3-0 after 15 minutes when capitalising on a defensive error.

Elliot Grady was the provider for the fourth a scored by Woods before Ford, who appeared to have the freedom of the wing, eluded the keeper with a tremendous strike from close to the touchline.

United's central defence of James Bearcroft, Bryn Tomes, Wes Burden were stopping everything that was thrown at them, while full backs James Coldrick and Colin Philpot cut out any danger from the flanks and supported their teammates going forward.

There was even better football after the break but fewer goals.

Woods fired home from the edge of the area for his fifth after yet another lethal cross from player of the match Ford.

A defensive lapse allowed the Bowmen to net a consolation, although Bearcroft's response was emphatic when he found the net from the edge of the box after a run from midfield.

Tom Evans made it nine when finding the net from 18 yards to send the 100-strong band of supporters back home happy up the A435.

The cup winners would like to thank sponsors Flynns of Cheltenham and AutoSleepers for their support during the season.
