IT seems most curious that literally within weeks of the opening our first cinema for years, Wyre Forest District Council wishes us to enjoy the advantages of a second one.
Can one ask if a thorough assessment has been made to support this decision, and who is going to fund it?
Surely the obvious procedure should have been to study the success of our first cinema, say for at least two years, before deciding that a second such project would be a commercially viable proposition.
How many other authorities of a similar size to Wyre Forest have more than one successful cinema?
One can only feel sympathy for the enterprising individual who has established our new cinema who, presumably only now is made aware of a competing project which will have a direct effect on the viability of his tremendous efforts.
One can only wonder if he was made aware of this proposal before he decided to proceed with his project.
