President Jenny Kerridge welcomed members.

We were invited to put names forward to attend a course at Denman College as we are in the happy position of offering two bursaries £175 and £150.

We have two outings in the near future to Spetchley Gardens and to see 'Ruddigrove'. Also, a visit to the Royal Show is planned for July 4. The Acorns Hospice will benefit from a tea-party we are holding on June 23. Val Garrett reported on the recently held annual council meeting.

At our next meeting on May 19 we will discuss resolutions to be presented at our forthcoming AGM. Members will enjoy 'cheese and wineless' refreshments and will also be sharing war-time memories.

Our speaker, Peter McNeile, commercial manager for Cheltenham Racecourse, entertained us with a lively talk about this world-famous institution - its history, and how it functions with interesting facts and many anecdotes. Helene Beardsall thanked him on our behalf.
