Droitwich Spa 1 Himley 1
Midland Combination Division Two
TEN-MAN Droitwich held their nerve to get a deserved point on Saturday.
Spa had been handicapped by Damon Harriss' first half sending off.
However, striker Andy Keenahan scored the equaliser in the second half to give his side a share of the points.
Manager Kevin Blaber said: "We actually played better when we were down to ten men and could have gone onto win the game."
Droitwich went into the match still hoping for a high finish in the Midland Combination Division Two, even though their top two hopes had been dashed last week.
However, they were given a mountain to climb when Harris was sent off for kicking the ball away and exchanging harsh words with the referee.
Despite the set back Droitwich were the better side and Keenahan completed a flowing move to put his side back on level terms.
Blaber is waiting for the referee's notes before he judges if Harris' sending off was deserved.
The Droitwich boss refused to feel sorry for himself after a series of refereeing decisions which had a hand is damaging his side's top two hopes.
As well as Harriss Droitwich have had Gary McGrillan sent off in recent weeks and a penalty againt him in last week's draw with Feckenham Reserves.
He said: "We've had a lot of decisions go against us in the last few weeks.
"We've probably been unlucky with a few, but before now we hadn't any at all so it's just one of the things."
