Fairfield Villa 0 Newhall United 2
Midland Combination Premier Division
VILLA tumbled into the Midland Combination Division Two as they lost their vital bottom of the table clash on Bank Holiday Monday.
Defeat ensures that Fairfield are four points behind Newhall, who are third from bottom, with just one game left to play.
Chairman Paddy Eades could not hide his sadness at his side's relegation.
He said: "The table doesn't lie and we were just not good enough.
"We haven't been able to score enough goals all season and that's the main reason we have been in trouble."
Villa's board will meet on Sunday to discuss who will take over as the team's new manager.
Current boss Neil Gallagher announced he will be leaving the club after their final match of the season tonight against Loughborough at home (Wednesday, 6.45pm kick off).
Eades though is confident a new manager will be found quickly.
He said: "We already have two or three candidates interested in the job and it's just a matter of sorting out which one is best for the club."
The chairman is confident that Villa can bounce back immediately into Division One next season.
He said: "We have good facilities here and can attract a good standard of player."
