Redditch's Mike Luck got off to a flying start in the opening rounds of the SCSA Championship at Rockingham, with two eighth place finishes.

With limited testing available due to showers, the grid for the first round of this year's championship was formed on last year's championship placings with Luck lining up in 10th place.

"I was pleased with the car after testing as we had made significant changes to the settings since last year," the Redditch ace explained.

"They look to be working and I am sure there is still more to come as I wasn't pushing that hard".

After running in eighth place at the start of race one, the Beta Tools 24:7 Motorsport car was never out of the top ten for the entire race, finally claiming eighth with eight laps remaining of the 60 lap race.

"The car was pushing on a bit in the corners too much for most of the race," Luck added.

"I was very happy with the result and felt pretty good about my start too. Whether the fuel load altered the handling is something we need to consider".

Having slipped to 11th at the start of the second race, Luck fought his way back to ninth within the first eight laps. After holding his place during the pitstops, he finished strongly by claiming eight on the 44th lap.

"It went according to plan, but I was still a bit tentative at the start, maybe I could have kept some of the places I lost. The car felt genuinely quicker though, but I need to come onto the pace quicker," he explained.

With the next round at Rockingham on June 5, Luck lies in eight place.
