The second week of the Prudden Road Surfacing Tennis League brought mixed fortunes for the local sides in the Premier Division.
Inkberrow A chalked up their second win but it was at the expense of last year's runners-up Studley A who could only manage to field a single pair.
Inkberrow climbed to joint second as a result of the game. They were handed a 2-0 lead due to Studley's depleted ranks and added a third rubber when Alex Woodbridge and Chris Baker beat Gary Jackson and Clive Dalton 6-4, 6-1.
But the Studley pair salvaged a point by beating Inkberrow's Mike Baker and Graeme Rankin 6-4, 6-3.
l Wythall B had a successful start in their first match in the Birmingham Summer League Division Eight, winning 3-1 at Penns Lane B Sutton Coldfield.
Wythall's first pairing of Rob Blair and 16-year-old Joe Singleton played Williams and Layland and soon took control on their way to a 6-3 6-4 triumph.
The second pair of Ian Smith and Kevin Turner played Cooper and Wardle in a much tighter encounter. The first set went to the Penns Lane pair on a tie break and although the Wythall duo romped into a 5-2 lead in the second set, they finally lost out 7-5.
The reverse rubbers saw the Wythall pair of Turner and Smith play Williams and Layland. The first set was close with a break to either pair but a tiebreak decided the set in favour of the Wythall pair.
Buoyed by their advantage, the visitors ran riot in the second set to win 7-6, 6-1.
Singleton and Blair played Cooper and Wardle and took the opening set 6-3.
The Wythall pair seemed to be on for a straight sets win at 4-2 but after missing out 7-5 they needed a third set to finally seal victory 6-3 7-5 6-2.
