A THIEF stole a handbag from a mourner by using a brick to break into her car while it was parked in the grounds of a church.
The incident happened between 6pm and 6.30pm on Thursday, April 28, while the woman who had gone to visit her grandson's grave at St Michael's Church, Church Drive, Stourport.
The bag contained a small amount of cash in a Chanel purse, a mobile phone, a quantity of tablets including anti-depressants and morphine painkillers, an address book and several photographs.
It also contained a bank card which was later used to withdraw £280.
Damage costing £30 was caused to the Citroen car. The black shoulder bag, which had one handle missing, has not been found.
"Some of the items meant the world to the owner, but would be worthless to anyone else," said a police spokesman.
