A MOBILITY group is looking to move forward on its first anniversary in bigger premises by opening its doors to the public for the first time and launching new products.

The factory open days at Willowbrook Group, which is now based in Hampton Lovett, near Droitwich, will coincide with the launch of a new range of electrically operated lightweight power chairs.

These can turn in their own space and can be easily assembled or dismantled in seconds, making them ideal for placing in the boot of a car.

The company has also introduced a new recliner chair - the 'Newhampton' - which incorporates a head-cushion into the back.

"We decided to open our factory doors to the public to demonstrate our range of adjustable beds, recliner chairs, stairlifts, mobility scooters and power chairs," said Keith Manvell, sales director.

"With all of our products under one roof, people can see, feel and try them out at first-hand."

The factory was originally based in Hallow, but business growth meant it had to move to bigger premises.

The move to the three-acre site in Kingswood Road meant a 25 per cent increase in the company's staff, taking the total tally to 115. Its annual turnover last year was just under £11m.

The open days will be held this Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, between 10am and 5pm and demonstrations will take place both days. Since its formation in 1997, Willowbrook and its sister company ElectroMotion, has become one of the UK's leading companies aimed principally at the disability market.

According to Saga, the company that specialises in products and services for people aged 50-plus, 40 per cent of the UK population is aged 50 or over, and this is predicted to increase to 48 per cent by 2021.
