WITH reference to your article headed ''Mini meadows'' (Advertiser, March 16), I have never heard such an apparently cynical idea as that proposed by Councillor Albert Wharrad to ''soften the impact of the bunds'' by sowing wild flower seeds.
He must realise by now with all the correspondence that has been generated that the bund in Far Moor Lane is made up of contaminated builders' waste (photographs taken at the time available).
A list of these contaminents is available.
Last year, the bund was covered with 5ft high weeds (docks, thistles etc) which the council are unable to keep under control because their machines cannot traverse the steep sides.
The whole edifice is an eyesore and no amount of wild flowers will make any difference to it.
This rough bund is an ugly blot on the landscape which will only be alleviated by its complete removal.
