PEOPLE who want to nominate their mum for the Evening News Mother's Day competition had better put pen to paper quickly.

The deadline for entries is first post Monday.

Letters are still flooding in to the Evening News from people saying why their Mum is Best.

Emma Jones, of Lovett Place, Worcester, says her mother Barbara is the "sunshine of my life".

Thomas Barnes, of Turners Close, Blackpole, Worcester, says his mum Patricia deserves to win because "she is very supportive with everything we do and hardly treats herself".

Jenny Fawkes, of Ely Close, Kidderminster, says her mother Kim should receive a posy because "somehow she makes everything turn out fabulous".

Matthew Tandy, of Winsmore, Powick, nominates his mother Denise because "the hugs and kisses I get when I come home from school give me a warm heart".

Pat Morris, of Gheluvelt Park, Barbourne, Worcester, is very proud of her mother Beatrice Hill, who lives in St Stephens Care Home, Droitwich Road, Worcester, and is 100 years old.

She said her mother had to work long hours after her father died when she was 12 years old.

"She still asks if I am keeping well and worries if I'm a little off-colour. That's why my mum is the best."

Five lucky winners will receive a very special hand-tied spring posy delivered to their homes.

The mums will receive their flowers on Saturday, March 5, in time for Mother's Day.

Entrants should write their full names, age, the name of their mother, their address, their mother's address, if different, together with their daytime telephone number, and send their nominations to: My Mum is Best, Newsdesk, Evening News, Hylton Road, Worcester, WR2 5JX.
