Did you see the sporting headline of the week? WORCESTERSHIRE DENY LINK WITH MOURINHO.

Now, I suspect you didn't see it because nobody reported it, but it happened and I was there.

At the County Cricket Club AGM on Monday the chairman John Elliott stated the New Roaders were not in the hunt for the Chelsea manager. Why?

Well the crux of the story is that one of the members suggested that Mr Mourinho (or is he Senor Mourinho) would make a good manager for the County Cricket Club, as he was very successful as a football manager.

Now, what did impress me was that Mr Elliott took the trouble to ring the gentleman back and tell him they couldn't really afford the five million that Jose would want!

Apart from that, and as you will gather I have had to wind that one up, very little happened at the meeting, but I am often fascinated by such occasions.

Proposers proposing and seconders seconding and then everyone voting, all very democratic.

Nice to see John Chadd is the club's president. A nice bloke John, and taking over from Norman Whiting, who gave a very amusing speech as he stood down.

On a totally different tack I was driving along at dusk on one of the very cold days this week, in the countryside, when over the hedge I spotted a huge ball of something smoking, flying through the air.

It looked like one of those massive catapults from the middle-ages that they used to bombard the city walls.

But in fact it was something much simpler.

The farmers were spreading muck, and it was flying really high, and of course as the muck was still hot, on a cold day it gave a very surreal air.

Talking of surreal I happened to drive past a tennis court on Tuesday, one of the hard courts not a grass court.

It was snowing at the time, but there were two young lads... playing tennis.

Honest, in the snow, they were still playing.

Now surely these lads deserve to be the next Henman (or maybe a winner!) with their dedication to the sport on such a freezing day.

Talking of freezing it was a bit fresh on the back of the open stand at Harlequins last Saturday, but we kept ourselves nice and warm, particularly towards the end of the game, as the home supporters decided to leave early.

Sale Sharks at the Theatre Of Dreams (Sixways) tonight, should be a good one, get behind your team.
