A FORMER pub in Malvern Link remains empty and boarded up, despite planning permission being granted for redevelopment more than a year ago.

The Portobello, on Albert Park Road, has been sealed up with metal sheeting across its doors and windows since November 2002.

In July 2003, a planning application was made by Laurel Developments, of Leighton Buzzard, to knock down the pub and build seven flats.

This was granted by Malvern Hills District Council in October 2003, subject to a legal agreement that the developer makes a contribution of £12,852 towards local education.

The agreement was signed in May 2004, with the developer now listed at Severn Vale Homes Ltd of Hagley. But no action seems to have been taken on the site since then.

Severn Vale Homes could not be contacted for comment.
