A PACKED audience enjoyed an evening with author and politician Ann Widdecombe last night.
At the event, in Huntingdon Hall, Worcester, the former shadow home secretary spoke of when she met Fathers 4 Justice members at the book signing for her novel Father Figure, a story about the plight of men separated from their children.
"Of course now it's very topical, and Batman and Robin turned up at my launch," she said.
She spoke of her passion for politics and writing, which was present at a very young age.
"Writing was a very strong ambition I had, but love of politics took over," she said.
"I believed at that age that all politicians were like Winston Churchill - I wish."
Ms Widdecombe recalled the initial burst of excitement she felt at the beginning of her career as an MP, and then how one of the first letters she received told her how disgusting she was.
