ANDY Preece believes improvements can still be made to Worcester City's defence despite his side not conceding a goal in three games.

Following Ryan Mallon's late winner for Gainsborough at St George's Lane on February 7, revitalised City have been on the mend, shutting out Alfreton, Vauxhall Motors and Lancaster in consecutive Nationwide North games.

City's sudden stubborness at the back contributed hugely to the club picking up seven points from a possible nine, a much-needed haul that calms their relegation worries.

However, player-manager Preece insists there is much more to come as he looks to add further strength to Worcester's rearguard.

"I think we are looking really solid now," said Preece. "What chances did Lancaster have? Perhaps one where the lad pushed one of our defenders where the referee did not see it. Then they had nothing else except for a couple of crosses into the box.

"There's still room for improvement though. I'm delighted with how we are doing but I still think we can improve and we've got to keep setting our standards high and keep working on things."
