OLD times mean more to Beatrice Houseman than to most people - she has 100 years of life in the Kidderminster area to look back on.
The sprightly centenarian recently celebrated her special birthday in Austcliffe Lane, Cookley, the village where she was born in 1905.
"Her main regret is that she can't get out and run a marathon," said Reg Brittain, her niece Val's, husband.
"She has lived most of her life in Cookley and has only been unable to get out and about for the last five years. She's remarkable."
Former carpet weaver, Beatrice, worked in factories in Kidderminster, including at the mill in Weavers Wharf, now a shopping centre.
She remembers marrying husband, Albert, also a carpet weaver, at Kidderminster Register Office in 1927 when they were both able to live on £10 a week.
They did not have children and after his death in 1964, she worked for a time as a warden in youth hostels around the country.
