NEW signing Peter Begley is backing Chaddesley Corbett's blend of youth and experience to come good - despite a 5-2 defeat to Dudley United in West Midlands Regional League division two.

The new striker scored twice for Chaddesley but was unable to prevent them slipping to their 13th league loss of the season.

He said: "I am the wrong side of 35 and every game I play is a bonus. It was great to notch a couple of goals and I am grateful to the manager for giving me a chance.

"I know we are losing games but I have been impressed by the attitude of the players, they kept fighting to the final whistle.

" We have quite a few excellent players. The manager is giving a chance to a lot of young players, but also he has thrown in two or three of us older ones to help them out."

It was an improved Chaddesley performance but the result was the same, another defeat. After taking an early lead Chaddesley slumped to a 5-2 home loss to visitors Dudley United.

Meanwhile, midfielder Nick Downey has thanked boss Martin Wescott for giving him a chance following his father and former manager Richard's departure from the club.

"It would have been easy for me to walk away when my father finished as manager," he said.

"I know the present manager did not rate me, that's his opinion, I want to prove him wrong and in fairness to him he is giving me that opportunity."

Chaddesley's nest match is away to Bilbrook, kick off 2.15pm. Players to meet at the Land Oak for 12.30pm.
