SORRY, "Friends of Swanirvar" (Evening News, Tuesday, February 15) but, instead of reaching out to us, shouldn't Hindu/Muslim apologies have arrived from the Indian continent by now?

As a serving soldier in India in the late 40s, I am weary of being told we must now help deprived souls in Africa and India.

Those who enthusiastically threw out "wicked colonials" - opted for "independence" and put my life at risk in the process!.

Now, thousands have hypocritically come in from many countries. Perhaps "the British" would have been a better bet than the venal dictators, politicians and corruption they put in our place?

FRANK L JONES,

Malvern.
