A WYTHALL teenager fought back when he was accosted by a youth demanding money.
Police in Wythall are appealing for information after the attempted robbery in Oakwood Road at about 8.45pm on Saturday.
The 15-year-old youth was approached by the assailant.
He refused to hand over cash but the offender grabbed him, searched his pockets and hit him in the face.
But the victim hit him back and managed to run off.
The offender is described as black, aged 17-18 and 6ft tall.
He was wearing a blue hooded Nike top, black jeans and a red Moschino baseball cap.
