WITH the High Street paving scarcely completed, it already resembles some form of vast micro-organism with its proliferation of chewing gum "pancakes" spattering the deck.

That, together with the awful stench of cooking fat and food dross, up and down Bank Street, are fast turning Worcester into an extremely foetid city centre.

Is it too much to ask that we clear the area of "mobile" caterers and attempt to aspire to a higher quality environment? Why does the council appear to encourage this squalor?

It would also help if the police, who insist on walking the High Street in pairs cleared the pedestrian areas of cyclists, who cause mortal danger to pedestrians, (particularly more senior ones), with impunity.

And another thing - can't we get rid of those damned gulls!
