MALVERN Ladies remain unbeaten in the Kidderminster and District women's league with this hard-fought 2-0 win away at Hereford.

FC PHOENIX LADIES 0, MALVERN LADIES 2

Malvern battled against a strong wind in the first half and Phoenix benefited with the better chances early on. Jenny Shail made some good saves and Heidi Barlow some good interceptions.

Malvern did create a couple of chances, Emily Prosser narrowly missing with two efforts. A neat exchange of passes from Stacie Doyle and Emily Prosser put Polly Bounds clear but her shot went over.

The second half saw Malvern take control and straight from the off they put pressure on the home defence.

Midway through, Becky Ballard was put clear by Emily Prosser only to see her shot rebound off the post. Five minutes later, Ballard raced onto a through ball again and this time made no mistake.

With Phoenix struggling to go forward, Malvern took advantage of the conditions to look for a second goal.

After Polly Bounds was brought down on the edge of the box, Heidi Barlow stepped up to take the free-kick, which was only half cleared and Stacie Doyle was well placed to score from close range.

Malvern still had to be on their toes in defence but Phoenix could not find a way through. It was a good team effort all round for Malvern.

Malvern are again away to Droitwich Ladies on Sunday and would like to thank their sponsors First Floor Flooring and The Soccersite.
