RIKKI the recycling Rat has been visiting pupils across Redditch to encourage them to recycle over the festive period.
Redditch Council's waste management mascot has already visited 14 schools and handed out recycling bookmarks to about 3,500 children - with several more visits lined up.
Ceridwen John, the council's waste management officer, said: "Rikki has proved a real hit with the children.
"We're reminding young people how important it is to reduce, reuse and recycle, especially at Christmas time."
Packs of "Santa's Sacks" are being delivered to every household in the kerbside recycling scheme areas.
The sacks are designed to allow residents to recycle their extra paper waste from the Christmas period.
