AT the October indoor meeting, Graham Harrison shared his bird watching experiences on the Isles of Scilly.
He outlined the geology of the 100 islands nestling in the warm Atlantic waters and explained the varying flora and fauna of the main islands.
The islands are situated on a number of major migratory routes, making them an ideal destination for bird watchers most of the year round.
Eyebrook Reservoir and Egleton Nature Reserve at Rutland Water were excellent venues for the October field meeting, despite being a grey, overcast day.
Sixty-seven species were identified, including whooper swan, little egret, gossander and a Spanish "escapee" white-headed duck.
The next indoor meeting will be on Wednesday, November 24 at St Oswald's Church Centre, Broadwaters, Kidderminster, at 7.30pm.
Professional photographer Mike Lane's topic will be A Lane Through Bharatpur.
Non-members welcome and there is a small admission charge.
On Sunday, November 28, the field trip will be to Upton Warren Nature Reserve, meeting on the Moors Pool car park at 10am.
Anyone interested in wildlife, birdlife and conservation in general is always welcome to join indoor and field meetings.
