THE D E Margretts and P Saunders of this world are such selfish people!

Why shouldn't the young people who attend/or are about to attend Christopher Whitehead have the opportunity to be educated in a brand new school - with state-of-the-art facilities?

I recently attended the open evening at the school, and the Headteacher and staff are doing an excellent job with the dated facilities and accommodation with which they have to cope.

When going around the school it is amazing to see the wonderful morale and enthusiasm displayed by teachers and pupils.

Just think what this would be with a new school - even better GCSE results I should think, and these have already improved over the last year.

This school is a working community and working towards excellence, and deserves better.

n AM I missing a point? I can see a need for the rebuilding of the existing Christopher Whitehead School but I believe that the school should remain where it is because it is in the heart of St John's.

Why can't Tesco be granted outline planning permission to build a new store where the school was being proposed to be moved to on Grove Farm, in return for a large donation to rebuild the existing school.

The orbital road is being considered again (about time too) across to the A449.

It would therefore make sense to locate a new Tesco or Sainsbury's there to go with the 10,000 or so new homes planned for the expansion of Worcester.
