The smooth sounds of New Orleans jazz will echo through Colwall Village Hall during a lively fundraising evening.

From the classic style of Louis Armstrong to the vibrant modern day numbers, Midlands-based jazz band Antique Six will make sure everyone's toes are tapping.

The six-piece band performs concerts around the country and generated an interest in Malvern after playing in the town last year.

A black and white theme will run throughout the event and visitors are asked to don their dinner suits or dresses for the occasion.

A two-course hot buffet will also be served and the bar will be open throughout the evening.

The event has been organised by the Malvern Inner Wheel Club and the Rotary Club of Malvern, with funds split between the Samaritans and St Richard's Hospice.

President of the Malvern Inner Wheel Hilary Al Rasheed said: "The event should be a really lively, fun evening. We chose to support the Samaritans this year because they are always there to provide support for people in their time of need."

The Rotary Club will put its share towards a visitors' suite for the new building for St Richard's Hospice in Worcester.

"St Richard's provides care for people at such a distressing time, and we think it would be nice of families could go and spend time with their loved ones at the new hospice," said Rotary spokesman Cyril Furniss.

The event will begin at 7.30pm on Friday, October 22. Tickets are £15, including a buffet, from Hilary Al Rasheed on 01684 575343 or Cyril Furniss on 01886 884391.
