DAVE Titterton reckons three points are in the bag against Paulton Rovers at Walshes Meadow tomorrow (1pm) if his Stourport Swifts strikers keep their cool.

Swifts are sixth in Southern League Division One West but the club's position should be much loftier had they not lost their composure in front of goal during last Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to high-flying Taunton Town.

In arguably Stourport's best performance of the season, Mark Crisp slotted the home side in front before Taunton turned the game around with two strikes either side of the interval.

Visiting goalkeeper Kenny Griffiths was the hero of the day, producing a string of second-half saves.

Titterton was flabbergasted his side came away without a point but insists they will rack up their sixth league win of the campaign against Paulton by improving inside the box.

Titterton said: "The important thing is that we create the same amount of chances that we did against Taunton and show a little bit more composure inside the box. I'm also hoping Paulton's goalkeeper doesn't produce a man-of-the-match performance like the guy last week.

"We out-played and out-thought Taunton and they are one of the best sides in the league. Our passing and movement was excellent.

"We totally dominated and created chance after chance but only converted one. That was the biggest disappointment.

"Hopefully, we can reproduce the performance because I could have few complaints. All I want is better finishing, that's not just from the strikers but the whole team."

Titterton added special praise to 40-year-old striker Crisp, who continues to cause trouble in opposing defences despite his age.

Full-back Bryan Small, the former Aston Villa defender, had a scan on his right knee yesterday and is awaiting the results.

Midfielder Jon Hayward remains unavailable with a knee injury.
