EVESHAM United boss Dave Busst is set to unleash his new signing, aggressive striker Wes Joyce from Malvern Town, at Ashford Town tomorrow in the FA Trophy preliminary round (3pm).

Joyce has played for the Robins before as well as boasting Worcester City, Moor Green and Bromsgrove Rovers on his previous clubs list.

He arrives at Common Road to replace the departing forward Lee Ross who has joined his old club Bedworth.

Ross netted four for Evesham in Southern League Division One West this season but Busst believes his new addition is more of a goal-scoring threat.

Busst said: "I felt we could do with someone of Wes' type. He is a very physical, very fit player who defences don't like playing against. I'm sure he will cause a lot of problems.

"He played for Evesham a couple of years ago and has proved at various clubs to be a good goal-scorer. There's a chance he might start at Ashford."

Defender Stuart Hamilton is struggling to overcome a back twinge for United who have not lost on their travels.

Tomorrow's winners collect £1,000 prize money and face a trip to Mangotsfield United in the first round.

However, Busst outlined United's league campaign as his main priority and revealed his frustration at having played too few games this season.

Busst said: "Realistically we don't have much of a chance of winning the trophy. But it would be nice to win a couple of rounds just for the money it brings.

"The league is most important and we are a few games behind. I don't want a situation where, come next April, we are playing two or three times a week."
