JOE Jackson is hopeful of clinching striker Leon Mitchell from Rushall Olympic ahead of Bromsgrove Rovers' FA Trophy preliminary round clash against Burnham at the Victoria Ground tomorrow (1pm).

The former Tamworth and Halesowen forward was the subject of a seven-day approach by Rovers and will be thrown into the squad if he makes the switch today.

Jackson has been keen to sign a new striker since last month's loss of Mark Bellingham to Stourbridge.

He believes Mitchell's pace and power offers Jackson new options up front alongside Paul Szewczyk, Arthur Appleton and Danny Lennon to make up a formidable strikeforce.

Jackson said: "We put in seven days for Leon and he would be a real asset to us. He's 26, quick and has performed at this level and in the Southern Premier League.

"We lack the person that can change the pace of the game and Leon can do that. He will also bring in a bit of experience to the side. That will give us four strikers and a few different options.

"The difficulty will always be keeping them happy but that's for me to worry about. Certainly, everybody will get an opportunity to perform."

Jackson admits to knowing little about Burnham and is concentrating on his own side's efforts in reaching the next round of the FA Trophy.

Rovers are in good form and have lost just one league game this season.

Midfielder Leon Allen returns from suspension, Ryan Mahon (knee) and Riad Erraji (ankle) have an '80 percent' chance of playing, while Jon Daniels is still out.

Jackson added: "We are on a bit of a roll and are six or seven games unbeaten. We will be trying to go as far as possible in the FA Trophy.

"It would be good if we put together a little run and made a name for ourselves."
