I'm delighted to know Peter Edwards (Your Letters, October 1) takes note of the details in my reports, and feel sure that his criticism is justified and correct.
In fact I did check in Cassell's Dictionary, and I quote: "...the tall fur cap worn by hussars; a bearskin hat worn by the Guards".
Since reading your letter, I've checked in the Oxford Concise which mentions the hussars similarly, but not the Guards. So, many thanks,
Jill Hopkins, Hanley Swan.
