EVERY form of seating was brought into use when the children, teachers and parents of Staunton & Corse CE Primary School held their harvest festival service in St James' Church, Staunton. Canon Evans warmly welcomed everyone and Rosie Miller, headteacher, gave the introductions. Readings were given by children from both the old and new testaments and each class participated either with songs, poems and prayers.

As the children offered their gifts at the altar, taken by Richie Templeton and Margaret Barclay, school governors, everyone sang Lord of the Harvest, which was repeated at least six times all through as over 130 children took their gifts! The service ended with a talk and prayer by Canon Evans. The collection, taken by some of the children, amounted to just over £128 and was sent to the charity chosen by the school - Christian Aid. All gifts of fruit and vegetables, canned and packed foods were taken to Gloucester for the homeless.
