PERSHORE Town recorded their best win of a troubled start to the Midland Combination Premier Division campaign when defeating Pilkington XXX 5-1 last Saturday.

Town, who gave debuts to ex-Malvern Town pair goalkeeper Peter Nightingale and centre half Rob Bastock, fell behind after two minutes but hit back in fabulous style.

Gordy Beauchamp went closest to levelling before the break after which there was only one side in it with brothers Lee and Mark Goo-dman impressing and it was the latter who levelled.

Pershore took the lead nine minutes into the half when Roland Rignall netted and Beauchamp then secured the welcome points with the visiting side's third goal 25 minutes from time.

Richard Bide made it 4-1 five minutes later and Mark Goodman rounded off a dominant display with his second and Town's fifth of the afternoon.

Director of Football Rich-ard Anson has recruited former Evesham United trio Adam Guest, Andrew Hod-getts and Martin West and their arrival has given manager Nigel Russell a much needed boost.

"There have been quite a few issues that Nigel and myself have had to resolve but we were outstanding on Saturday and that sets us up nicely for the future," a delighted Anson declared.
