Littleton 1, Northfield Tn 0
LITTLETON maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a hard-fought victory over Saturday's visitors.
The hosts had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half and almost took the lead in the first minute but a shot from Simon Brain brushed a post.
This was followed by a shot from Perry Beddoes following a corner that flew over the bar. At the other end debutant Adrian Pritchard made two superb saves to keep the scores level.
The all-important goal came on 36 minutes when, Jon Gregory fed Beddoes who hit a first-time left-footed shot into the roof of the net.
The second half saw the visitors enjoy the wind advantage and they laid siege to the Littleton goal. However, defensive old hands Beddoes, Curtis Major and Matthew Edward, well supported by Bate, Gledhill, Staley and Haines all dug in and harried, blocked and chased every ball as the pressure increased.
Time and again the visitors looked to have broken through but last-ditch tackles or wayward shooting prevented an equaliser. Paul Jones brought a fine save from the Town keeper two minutes from time before Pritchard's marvellous double save in stoppage-time finally secured all three points for the relieved hosts
Littleton are at home again on Saturday to Polesworth NW in the Endsleigh Challenge Cup.
