A JUDGE adjourned a hearing at Worcester Crown Court so that the victim of a handbag snatch in Kidderminster could give evidence on a video link.

Marc Griffiths, aged 21, of Walter Nash Road, Birchen Coppice, Kidderminster, had just pleaded guilty to robbing charity worker, Helen James, on December 18 last year.

Judge Ian Morris said he was considering remanding Griffiths in custody but first wanted to assess the vulnerability of his victim and the effect of the robbery on her.

When the court re-assembled, the judge questioned Miss James about her job and whether she had any anxieties about walking through Kidderminster.

She said she was no longer working at the Scope shop but was not unduly worried in town.

When told that the men who had snatched her bag had pleaded guilty to the robbery, she said she was very pleased she would not have to give evidence.

After speaking to her, Judge Morris gave Griffiths bail but warned that he faced custody when he was sentenced.

A second man, 20-year-old Army Taylor, of Godson Crescent, Kidderminster, had pleaded guilty to the robbery at a previous court. The pair will be sentenced at the same time.
