A COUPLE of new takes on some best-loved Shakespeare stories are appearing on stage locally this week.
In Tewkesbury on Tuesday, international touring theatre company Volcano brings The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy (of Romeo and Juliet), into 'an age of anxiety'.
With a reputation for unpredictable theatre, the company promise a new look for the old favourite performed: "sometimes as tragedy, sometimes as comedy but not necessarily in the usual order and not necessarily with the usual outcome"!
The Tempest is given a musical twist by Shakespeare 4 Kidz, a company which aims to make the Bard's classics accessible for all ages. A few well-known faces are joining the cast to tell the tale of the exiled Prospero and his plan of revenge at Malvern's Forum Theatre next Thursday. The play combines modern and Shakespearean English with song and dance.
